RoleSoftware Engineer
PeriodFebruary 2018 — September 2018

01 / Context

During a short engagement, I worked across backend development, database performance, infrastructure, and maintenance of the company’s Android application.

02 / My contribution

  • Investigated MySQL bottlenecks and configuration issues, added indexes, and helped stabilize the database while taking on DBA-related responsibilities.
  • Developed new modules and helped introduce testing practices including TDD and user acceptance testing (UAT), alongside Agile methods such as Scrum.
  • Helped Dockerize the system and move it from an on-premises server to AWS using EC2 and RDS.
  • Supported the migration from PHP 5.6 to PHP 7.0, contributing to up to 50% lower memory consumption.
  • Analyzed Android application flows, created data models, screens, and mockups, and maintained the Java application using the Android SDK.

03 / Outcome

The database became more stable, the application moved from on-premises infrastructure to AWS, and the PHP upgrade reduced memory consumption by up to 50%.
